Frodsham Forward & Groundwork Cheshire announce partnership to help businesses with their resource efficiency

Frodsham Forward is pleased to announce its partnership with Groundwork Cheshire that will provide grant aid from Frodsham Forward’s Capital Business Grant scheme to help local businesses make environmental improvements through Groundwork’s Resource Efficiency Programme (REP

Groundwork Cheshire’s REP is a powerful and effective tool that provides the potential for businesses to save both in costs and resources. It allows the systematic analysis of the use of resources including some or all of the following:

Raw material conversion efficiency

Energy

Water

Waste

Thanks to Frodsham Forward this scheme is now supported by grant funding of up to £1000 per business towards capital projects derived from their Resource Efficiency Action Plan.

As part of Frodsham Forward’s Capital Business Grant scheme businesses that have taken part in the Resource Efficiency Programme are eligible to apply for up to £1000 towards the delivery of projects that improve its resource efficiency.

“The audits take 1-2 hours, and as well as giving participating companies the opportunity to benefit from a grant from Frodsham Forward the audits will also identify no and low cost opportunities for saving money and reducing companies carbon footprints.”

Resource Efficiency Programme (REP)

To date the scheme has:

· Yielded the potential for £5.7m of cost savings

· Achieved £2.7m actual cost savings - equating to resource savings of:

3,000 tonnes of CO²

25,000 m³ of water

12,000 tonnes diverted from landfill

Frodsham Forward Capital Business Grants

Businesses who take part in Groundwork’s REP can access grant funding of 50% of the total costs of resource efficiency projects that are derived from their resource efficiency action plan up to £1000. Eligible projects must:

Have not started at the time of application
Be completed by the end of February 2008
Be a capital project
Have the support of Groundwork Cheshire
